School-Wide Reward: Inside Out on the Big Screen

Today, while snuggled in our PJs, we spread out on our cozy blankets and enjoyed the movie Inside Out in the gym with the entire school. We had a great time! It was a great send-off to Thanksgiving break. I hope everyone has a wonderful week with family and friends.

Learning About Pilgrims

For the past two weeks, we have been studying Pilgrims. Students took a closer look at how Pilgrims came to live in America as well as what life was like for Pilgrims once they were here. We compared their lives to our lives today. As a part of their learning, students created a class book.

Turkey Time

We are getting into the Thanksgiving feeling in school this week. We took down our Fall bulletin board and replaced it with out Thankful Turkey. Each student designed a feather to add to our turkey, stating one thing they are thankful for. Each student also create a smaller turkey.

Leap Frog Math

Yesterday we celebrated our 50th day in school! We played Leap Frog while counting by 10s to 50. Everyone had a great time hopping over one another as well as being the counting blocks.

Fighter Keith: Fire Safety Week

Over the next two weeks, we will be seeing Fire Fighter Morse and learning more about fire safety!

Outside Fun

The weather lately has been fabulous! We are enjoying every moment we can outside, while it lasts.

Drop It: A New Math Game

Today we made and played Drop It. First, each student took 10 popsicle sticks and added one dot to the middle of each one. Next, they flipped each stick over and added ten dots (5 on each end) to the other side. To play the game, students pick up the bundle of sticks and drop them. As they fall, they either end up on their side of 10 dots or side of 1 dot. Students then count the amount of dots they see. This will help build their understanding of tens and ones. This is a quick and easy game students can play by themselves or against a partner. I would encourage any family that can, to build these sticks and play this game at home.
