It's Electric!

Today we explored different materials that may conduct electricity. Students used a circuit box to test out their predictions. They tested paper, washer, toothpick, paper clip, penny, straw, yellow clip and foil. Using their evidence from the experiment, they discovered all the metallic items (foil, penny, paper clip, washer) were able to conduct electricity, while the nonmetallic items (yellow chip, paper, straw, toothpick) were unable to allow electricity to pass through, making them insulators. It was a great experiment! In the end, students were able to identify other conductors and insulators around the room. Make sure you ask them about this :-)

  1. Joey loved this experiment - he talked about it at home!
