Drop It: A New Math Game

Today we made and played Drop It. First, each student took 10 popsicle sticks and added one dot to the middle of each one. Next, they flipped each stick over and added ten dots (5 on each end) to the other side. To play the game, students pick up the bundle of sticks and drop them. As they fall, they either end up on their side of 10 dots or side of 1 dot. Students then count the amount of dots they see. This will help build their understanding of tens and ones. This is a quick and easy game students can play by themselves or against a partner. I would encourage any family that can, to build these sticks and play this game at home.
