Pattern Blocks, Butterflies and Airplanes!

Today we continued our PBIS tour around our building. We met with Mr. D about arrival and dismissal, as well as discussing cafeteria and recess expectations. We had our first P.E. class today. We will have P.E. every Tuesday and Friday, so please remember to send your child in with sneakers. On a side note, it has been extremely hot in our room this week. Making sure your child is dressed for the weather is very important. Layering is the best during this transition between seasons, as the mornings tend to be chilly but the afternoons are steamy! This afternoon students learned about the butterfly life cycle and where bugs live. They also had time to use various math manipulatives. Some of us got very creative and made airplanes together.

Ready Or Not, Here We Go!

Today was Day 1 for our 2013-2014 school year. We have 19 fun, energetic, loving students in our classroom this year. Today was a day of exploration, new friendship and lots of fun. We toured various parts of the school, reviewing our PBIS model of expected behavior. While in the classroom, we explored various math stations, and created name plates for our classroom.

Getting Close!

After spending several days in my classroom, things are starting to look really great. I have been working with my teammate a lot, making schedules, new bulletin boards, mapping out out curriculum and planning the first week of school. Only 5 days left until students arrive and the 2013-2014 school year really begins!

Getting Ready For School

We have been given the okay to start preparing our classrooms! After a summer of fun, family time as well as taking two graduate courses, I am getting excited to be back at school. We formally start next Tuesday, with students coming back the following week, but as you can see, I've got some work to do before then! So far I have created a beautiful bulletin board (who doesn't love purple sparkle fabric?!) and have decided what desk arrangements I would have this year. As for the rest of it, I'll be updating more next week! Happy last week of summer to all!
