First Week Back!

Well, school is definitely back in session! After a snow-filled and hopefully restful break, we were all back in the classroom on Monday and ready to go. We continued our penguin study (which will be coming to a close next Friday) and wrote our very first report. Each child was given a specific penguin to study. They each collected notes on their penguin and created a life-size replica as well. From our notes, we created our first draft of our reports. Many students asked what the word "draft" meant. After letting them know, they were shocked. "You mean we have to write the same thing more than one time?" was the general response going around the classroom. However, when it got down to it, everyone worked incredibly hard and produced some beautiful pieces of writing. They are all on display outside our classroom right now and will be available to go home after conference week.

Learning about Polygons

Our calendar pieces this month are various 2-dimensional shapes (polygons). When discussing them today, we decided to organize our findings use Popplet.com. Check it out here, and we will add to it as we discover new polygons throughout the month.
