Letters from Antarctica

Please follow the link below to see our Padlet page. On here you will find digital pictures students created along with a short letter home. If you'd like, you are welcome to "write back" to your child. When viewing our Padlet board, simply double-click in an open space and a text box will open up.

Rocky the Penguin

Rocky is very excited to make his appearance again this year. He is our classroom penguin and over the next few weeks he will be journeying to each students' home for one night. During his visit, each student will write and illustrate something they do with Rocky. Digital pictures are strongly encouraged, as we will share Rocky's adventures with the class each morning. His adventures will also be posted on our Twitter Feed, located on the right-hand side of this blog.

Penguin Plunge

This week began our journey to the Southern Hemisphere and our study of penguins! First graders were excited to see the many changes in our classroom. We begin this unit by taking a close look at where in the world penguins live. Although many penguins live in cold places, first graders were surprised to hear some penguins live in the hottest places on Earth too. The first stop for us is Antarctica. This week we learned about Antarctica and created letters to home. Those will be posted shortly!

This bulletin board will reflect the learning that's happening in our classroom

As we learn new things, we will add them here

Thank you Ashton for the new poster for our classroom!

Math Games

Last week, students worked as partners to play some math games. We have been focusing on sharing responsibilities and taking turns.

Winter Wonderland

We have certainly been enjoying the snow!

Punch Card Rewards

Lots of students have been earning Otter Bucks for expected behavior lately. For every dollar they earn, they receive a "punch" on their Punch Card. Once they get 20 punches, they can turn it in for a classroom rewards. These two students decided to bring in something to share with the class.
