Gingerbread House Project 2015

As I know you have all seen already, we made gingerbread houses last week in class. King Arthur Flour generously donated enough kits for each student to decorate his/her own. We opened up the wall between the two First Grade classrooms and had a decorating party. It was a ton of fun. The following day, we mapped out the town of Hartford and each student was able to place their house on the map. We talked about our community and how we all are connected. Community Helpers

Our community helpers unit has begun. We are taking a look at what a community is and what is a community helper. This week we focused on our Dothan Brook School community. Students identified people they felt makes DBS safer, healthier, cleaner and a better place. Here are some of their profile pictures.

Ginger Bread House

Thanks to the very generous donations of candy, we had a great selection to choose from when decorating our ginger bread house this week. We had so much fun!
