Diving Head First Into Penguins

Over the next several weeks, we will learn about various
penguin adaptations and chart them here.

Did you know not all penguins live in Antarctica? But they all live south
of the equator! Students will learn about this and more starting on Tuesday!

Meet our classroom penguin! He will be named this week, and
begin going home with students Wednesday.

Back and Ready to Go!

Here we go! With a slow start on Monday, everything else about this week has been full speed ahead. We began our week with a visit from Fire Fighter Morse. We discussed what is a toy vs. a tool. Race cars and stuffed animals are toys, while matches and lighters are tools only to be used by adults.

This week we also began a mini-unit on measurement. Students estimated the length of a scarf with string and then used unifix cubes to measure their estimates.

Today we enjoyed Relax Reading. Each student was able to pick a comfy spot throughout the room and enjoyed sipping hot chocolate while reading a book of their choice. We will be doing this every other Friday until April vacation. We could always use extra hot chocolate for classroom use, tubs or individual packets both work well.
