Quality Time With "Peep"

We were able to bring one of our chicks out this morning and take a closer look. We named him/her Peep for all of the noise he/she was making while in the box. We now have 5 baby chicks in our class. Be sure to check back in this weekend for updates and video clips!

Plant Lab

Today, we also checked in on our plant experiment from last week to see if the different seeds grew. The results are in...

Seed #1 without water did not grow at all.
Seed #2 without light did grow, but was very yellow and white
Seed #3 without soil did not grow and was very stinky!
Seed #4 with soil, light and water grew very nicely

Farmer Johnson and Chickens

Farmer Johnson from Tunbridge, VT came today to talk to us about chickens. He also provided us with 12 fertilized eggs we will be incubating over the next three weeks, in hopes they will hatch in our classroom. Farmer Johnson was very knowledgeable about chickens; definitely ask your child tonight what they learned about today :-)

Valley Terrace Community Service Visit

Today we were able to go to the Valley Terrace and visit with some elderly women. The students did a great job reading to these individuals and had some great conversations. After reading, we sang some nursery rhymes with them. Each student received a certificate for completing this community service project from our senior intern, Lexie West.

Enjoying the Weather

After a wonderful afternoon at The Valley Terrace, we enjoyed the last few minutes of school outside! The weather is absolutely beautiful.

Planting Success!

We planted some seeds a few days ago, and today we started to see them sprout! We are very excited to see how much they will grow over the next week!

Screen Turn-Off Week Success!

Way to go, Aaron! Aaron and his family have been spending a lot of non-screen time together this week creating this wonderful, cardboard ship! It's on display  in our lobby. If you have a chance, definitely check it out!
